Before Uccello and VelareClan formed, there were two groups of cats that inhabited the region.
One group was called The Insiders. They inhabited the maze, which are the ruins of an ancient city, and were murdering, vicious felines. The maze was a feared place--If anyone entered the maze and got lost, a very probable situation, they would most likely never make it out alive. The Insiders haunted the shadows of the maze and killed any out-of-line Outsiders who dared to enter their territory.
The Outsiders were more peaceable cats who remembered the past clans, had stumbled upon the habitable area, or maybe even left the maze.
Among these Outsiders were Veilmist, the daughter of Dawnstar and Auricglaze, and OJ, Cinnamon, and Teadew, who were also descendants of former clancats.
Veilmist tried to establish some sort of organization among the outsiders, but no real clans were formed until CieloClan (StarClan) intervened and appointed Raven and Veilmist at the time, leaders.
For the most part the Insiders became UccelloClan and the Outsiders became VelareClan. Although the cats of UccelloClan are not nearly as bad as past generations of Insiders, there is still a distinct difference between the two clans. UccelloClan is and has always been the more feral one.
